All professors, engineers, mathematicians and even magicians are welcomed to contribute in this informative website, as long as your papers/articles are related to structural reliability and integrity. You can sent your papers/articles to mohdfadlynorazman@yahoo.com

So, what is beta index and what the heck I'm putting up a website using beta index as the address? Well, most of the time I got questions and inquiries from friends and clients in offshore structural industry about what is beta index and why it is so important in structural management system. This website (I hope) will more or less give people awareness and knowledge about reliability and integrity and how do we relate them in our day to day engineering work.

I really don't like to complicate thing, so the best definition for beta index is the "Measure of distance between RESISTANT and LOADING in  probability density function curve" or sometimes also known as "Mean Safety Margin".

It is however is a highly mathematical subject in structural engineering that you can't study in your undergraduate classes in college but since we are all engineers, we let mathematician to do all the maths, we are here to apply and understand the principles behind it.
